Tree Root Cutting & Jetting in Sydney
There's a jacaranda or a gum not far from the house, and the drain under it has blocked at roughly the same time of year for three years running. It is very likely a root at a joint.

The short answer
Champion Plumbing & Drains cuts tree roots and jets drains across Sydney. Cutting shaves roots back to the pipe wall, then the jet flushes the pieces out, so a root-blocked drain flows again.

Questions and answers
With a cutting head sized to the pipe, on the electric drain machine or a root-cutting jet nozzle. It shaves the roots back to the pipe wall, then the jet blaster flushes the pieces through to the sewer.
Nothing from a bottle does the job properly. Root killers act slowly, don't remove the mass that is blocking the pipe and leave a chemical hazard in the drain. Cutting is quicker and you can see the result.
It depends on the tree, the season and how big the gap in the joint is. It comes back faster after a wet stretch than a dry one. Scheduled cutting or sealing the joint takes the guesswork out.
On your side of the connection, the owner is. Sydney Water owns the junction on its main, but says clearing roots that get into it at your point of connection is still the owner's job.
They are available, but cleaning a sewer drain is licensed work in NSW, and a cutter that jams in an old clay joint can turn a clearing job into an excavation.
It depends on how established the roots are, how many joints are affected and how easy the line is to reach. There is a $0 call-out on any job you book, and the price is in writing before the cutter goes in.
