From outside, ring 000 if the smell is strong or anyone feels unwell, and report the leak to Jemena on 131 909, any time of day. Then call a licensed gasfitter to find and repair the leak on your side of the meter. That is where we come in.
For anything touching gas in NSW you need someone holding a gasfitting licence. Our plumbers who do gas work are licensed gas fitters, so the same person can sort the leaking kitchen mixer and connect the cooktop above it.
No. Relocating or replacing a gas appliance is licensed work in NSW, whoever owns the house. Plugging a portable heater into an existing bayonet socket isn't classed as gasfitting, and neither is changing over a barbecue cylinder, but the pipe and the connections behind them are.
Yes. After any gas work, the gasfitter must give you a certificate of compliance for network gas, or a certificate of inspection for bottled gas, showing their name and licence details. Keep it with the house papers.
A yellow or floppy flame means the burner is short of air or short of gas. Common reasons are a dirty burner, the wrong injector for your gas type, or a line too small for what it now feeds. It wastes gas and soots the pans, so it is worth a look.
Yes. Burners and pilot cleaned, flame safety checked, flue and ventilation checked, and the pressure set to the data plate. The ideal time is before the first cold snap, when heaters that sat idle all summer come back on.
Yes. An outdoor bayonet off the existing line is a common job. We check the line has spare capacity before teeing into it, because adding load to a tight run makes every appliance on it worse.
It depends on what the job is, how easy the pipe is to reach and whether anything needs upsizing. You get the price in writing before work starts, and the call-out is $0 on any job you book.
