Tell us what's happening

The short answer
We empty the pit, clear the pipe that leaves it and find out why it filled.
How it works
Step 1: Call or book online
Tell us what is happening. We ask the right questions and book a time that suits you.
Step 2: We find the cause
A licensed plumber diagnoses it properly, with a drain camera, leak detection or a pressure test where it helps.
Step 3: A fixed price, agreed first
You agree the price before any work starts. We quote the job, not the hour, so there are no surprise charges.
Step 4: Done right, guaranteed
We finish the job, clean up, and back our workmanship with a lifetime labour guarantee.
Step 5: You know the price first
The figure for the whole job, in writing, before anyone starts. That figure is what turns up on the invoice.

Questions and answers
It depends what is dropping into it. A gum or a liquidambar over the yard will fill a pit in one season, while a courtyard with no trees may need attention every few years. Lifting the lid after autumn and scooping it out is a good habit.
The outlet is packed with silt, or the pipe beyond it is broken, root-filled or blocked at the kerb. Jetting answers the first one on the spot, and the camera answers the second.
A few centimetres below the outlet pipe can be normal in pits built with a silt sump. Water up to or over the outlet, a day or more after rain, is not.
It may be too small, or the grate may not let water in fast enough for the roof and paving draining to it. We look at the catchment and can add a second pit or a channel drain to share the load.
Street gutters and the drainage pits in the road are generally run by the local council. Everything on your side of the kerb, including the pipe out to the kerb outlet, is yours to look after.
In most standard pits, yes. It catches leaf and grit before they reach the outlet, and emptying it takes a minute. It only helps if someone empties it after heavy leaf fall.
