Tell us what's happening

The short answer
It is usually the cartridge, and often a one-visit job. We replace the cartridge and O-rings, and you get the price in writing first.
How it works
Step 1: Call or book online
Tell us what is happening. We ask the right questions and book a time that suits you.
Step 2: We find the cause
A licensed plumber diagnoses it properly, with a drain camera, leak detection or a pressure test where it helps.
Step 3: A fixed price, agreed first
You agree the price before any work starts. We quote the job, not the hour, so there are no surprise charges.
Step 4: Done right, guaranteed
We finish the job, clean up, and back our workmanship with a lifetime labour guarantee.
Step 5: You know the price first
The figure for the whole job, in writing, before anyone starts. That figure is what turns up on the invoice.

Questions and answers
The ceramic cartridge inside has worn or picked up grit, so its two discs no longer close tight. Replacing the cartridge stops the drip in almost every case.
Most can be repaired with a cartridge and a set of O-rings. We only suggest a new mixer when the body is cracked, the cartridge is no longer made or the chrome is failing.
Usually the O-rings the spout swivels on have worn, or the tap has worked loose on the bench and water is getting under the base plate. Both are repaired with the tap left in place.
Look at the braided hoses, the isolation valves and the connections to the tap and dishwasher. A slow weep from any of them can soak a cupboard base for weeks before anyone notices. During the mixer visit, the plumber will check the hoses and valves.
It can be. Many kitchens have a valve or a combination tap under the sink that feeds the dishwasher, and if it is weeping we can replace it on the same visit.
Only the kitchen tap goes off, at the valves under the sink, and the rest of the house keeps running. If those valves are seized, we shut the house off at the meter for the time it takes to replace them.
